It's been three weeks since we arrived in Chesterfield...and what an insane three weeks it's been.
We left San Diego on May 28th directly after the LJCDS Graduation. In fact, we wanted to beat the Memorial Day weekend traffic, so I only had a few precious moments to say goodbye to the little beach house we had called home for the past seven years. Then we packed up the car and pushed towards Arizona.
Our house in Pacific Beach was an awful place really. The interior was decorated in the 1950's, which could have been really cool, but in this case it wasn't.The bathroom was pink and torquoise, and the kitchen was emerald green. I could also reach out my bedroom window and literally touch our neighbors house. Living in such close proximity to so many college students meant that there were always interesting sights, sounds and "smells" in our neighborhood. The house was so small that we couldn't have more than a few people over at any given time, and certainly not enough space for two grown adults, a toddler, a cat and a dog. That being said, it was home, and I lived there longer than just about every other place I've called "home".
Orange County, CA - 4 years Dayton, OH - 5 years
Wellington, FL - 8 years Tucson, AZ - 4 years
Circle Pines, Minnesota - 8 months Las Vegas, NV- 2 years
Chicago, IL - 3 years San Diego, CA -8 years
So here we are.....starting again in a new home, our own home this time, and in a new city. Some might be sad to leave behind jobs and friends, but I enjoy moving. True friends are never forgotten or left behind, they travel with you from one adventure to the next. And if you love what you do for a living, as I do (most days), then it's easy to start again. In fact it's refreshing!
I love learning about my new hometown and the people and places that make it unique. The biggest difference in this move is that we now have an additional member to our little gypsy family - which makes exploring the area all the more enjoyable!
